My Story
So often in life, we move beyond what we imagined we were capable of… Breaking through that boundary propels us toward transformation.
The Five Invitations, Frank Ostaseski
For the past decade, I have coached leaders in higher education. Prior to that, my life had been comprised of a series of transformations with higher education as the common thread. Starting out as a gerontologist, a marketing executive at Apple, an entrepreneur and a leadership professional at Georgetown University, I reached my ultimate professional fit as a leadership coach and faculty member in the early 2000s.
The practice of mindfulness grounds my practice. Stillness, reflection, and space are fundamental tools that allow values to come alive in my work. These practices enable clients to benefit from learning about themselves in previously undiscovered ways. From this fresh awareness, clients begin to shift, intentionally making new choices about what they believe and how they behave.
My professional and academic experiences have culminated in this commitment: to co-create the conditions for leaders to thrive, and in turn, help their institutions and students to thrive.
I hold a certificate in leadership coaching from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and am credentialed by the International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). I am certified to administer the Leadership Circle Profile ™ 360° assessment instrument and the EQ-i 2.0®, a measurement of emotional intelligence. I earned a PhD in Higher Education from American University and a graduate degree from the University of Chicago. I did my undergraduate work in gerontology at Miami University of Ohio.
Personally, I love to swim, hike, travel, and teach mindfulness to incarcerated women.
